North Huron Council Selects Services to be reviewed in 2015

Township of North Huron Council and Senior Staff held a Special Meeting on April 22nd, 2015 to share ideas for potential costs savings and operational efficiencies. During the session Council identified a list of services and programs that would be considered for review in 2015.

On May 4th, Council received a report from CAO Sharon Chambers which outlined the scope of the proposed review for the top priorities that were selected by Council. Council directed staff to prepare reports in 2015 on the following matters;

Cross Border Servicing and Inter-Municipal Collaboration

Airport Feasibility

Emergency Services Training Centre Feasibility

Recycling/Landfill Service Review

Policy regarding responsibility for service laterals

Energy Management Initiatives

Economic Development Program Review

Where a change in the level of service is possible, public engagement will be part of the review process. Council will consider the report findings during 2016 budget deliberations.

Council also requested that quotes be obtained for policing from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) once the moratorium on quotes has been lifted, and further directed Wingham Police Chief Poole to provide updated costing on the extension of policing services into Blyth and East Wawanosh Wards.
