North Huron Concludes Emergency Training Exercise

The Huron Challenge IV (Trillium Resolve) Emergency Training Exercise in North Huron has concluded.

Members of North Huron Council and senior staff including Police and Fire services, along with County representatives from Social Services and EMS met today to work through a mock disaster. The assembled Emergency Control Group (ECG) walked through a local mock disaster that was part of a larger multi-county area natural disaster simulation including representatives from Bruce Power, Maitland Valley Conservation Authority, Ministry of Environment, OMAFRA, the County of Huron, Provincial Emergency Operations Centre, HazMat and several lower tier municipalities.

The Exercise Huron Challenge IV (Trillium Resolve) is the fourth in a series of training events designed to enhance the collective capability to respond to a natural disaster impacting the North-East Lake Huron Region, including the Bruce Power facility.

Municipalities are mandated by the province to conduct these exercises annually. The training exercise is intended to follow the provisions contained in the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (2006) and it’s supporting regulation.
