North Huron — The citizen survey results were released at last night’s North Huron Council meeting (see attached). Attracting economic development, reducing taxes, and communicating with residents were identified as the top three priorities.
The survey is part of the community consultation phase of North Huron’s strategic planning process. Every household in North Huron (2470) received a survey in the mail.
375 surveys were completed and returned, which represents a response rate of 15%. This is considered good as a typical response rate for surveys with the general public is 10%.
“We want to make sure that Council’s priorities are consistent with the priorities of the community,†said Reeve Neil Vincent. “This survey data, along with the input we received at our town hall meetings and roundtable discussions, will be used to help us prepare our strategic plan.â€
“Our residents and businesses have expectations and views about how their tax dollars are being spent and this is reflected in the survey,†said Gary Long, CAO/Clerk. “We have a duty to listen and we will respond accordingly with an action plan to address community priorities.â€
