New Story For An Old Scam

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On May 8th, 2012 at 10:12 am, the South Bruce OPP received a report of a scam from a resident in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie. A call was received from a “Facebook/Google technician/trouble shooter” wanting access to the home computer. Although access was granted, the scam was correctly identified and the computer has been taken for assessment by a real technician. The South Bruce OPP is reminding all residents to question unsolicited phone calls, emails, faxes, letters, etc. Fraud is a billion dollar enterprise that isn’t going to end until we stop handing over personal information, banking information or money to con artists. You work hard for your money, don’t hand it over to some smooth talking scammer.
