WFP is considering upgrades to our automated weather warning system. The current system checks Environment Canada’s website for weather warnings. If there is one for this area, it automatically starts displaying a warning banner at the top of our site. This same system is used for missing person alerts. WFP would like to see if there is enough public interest in a system that would send out alerts via text message. The goal would be to have a low cost system that could alert thousands of people in under 60 seconds.
