On Sunday November 22, 2015 at approximately 3:00 pm., a pilot flying a plane for Tennessee reported he came within 10 feet of striking an unmanned arial vehicle (UAV) just after takeoff from the Region of Waterloo Airport at 4881 Fountain St. N in Woolwich Township. This took place approximately .5 km north of the airport at the end of runway 32 over a wooded area. Police would like to remind the public that these types of vehicles are prohibited by Transport Canada from flying within 9 km of any airport at any height. Nobody was hurt in this incident and the pilot did not have to take evasive action.
