On Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 10:45 a.m., a natural gas leak occurred during construction of the LRT at the corner of King Street and Benton Street in Kitchener. Waterloo Regional Police, Kitchener Fire Department and the City of Kitchener Utilities Department responded to the incident. The shut off valve was closed and the gas line was repaired. There were no injuries however a few nearby businesses were affected due to gas disruption.
