(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Monday August 19, 2013, shortly before 9 p.m. the Township of Perth East Fire Department (Sebringville Station) and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the area of Huron Rd (Hwy 8) and Bolger Lane in Sebringville for a reported natural gas leak.
As a result of the leak, occupants of eight residences were evacuated and all traffic on Huron Road between Perth Road 130 (Avonton Rd) and Station Road was diverted around the scene. Union Gas personnel attended and shut off gas to the affected area. At 9:50 p.m. the road was re-opened and the evacuated residents were able to return to their homes. Preliminary investigation reveals that the leak was caused by a minor equipment failure.
