(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have completed their investigation into the death of an 18 month old female that occurred on Sunday, May 31, 2015.
Huron OPP officers along with Huron County EMS responded to a family farm located on St. Helen’s Line in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh at 8:55 p.m. after receiving a call for assistance.
Investigators discovered that a group of siblings were playing outside when an 18-month old toddler wandered away from the family to an adjacent barn where livestock was being kept. When other family members realized the child had wandered off, they began to search for her and found her a short time later unresponsive in a water trough located inside the barn.
The child was rushed to an area hospital by paramedics however attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.
18 month old Fanny YODER was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The cause of death has been established as an accidental drowning.
