On September 17, 2014 at approximately 5:23pm emergency crews responded to a collision on Guelph Avenue in the City of Cambridge. An 8 year old Cambridge boy attempted to cross the street on his bicycle when he was struck by a northbound Mazda being driven by a 35 year Cambridge resident. The child was taken to the hospital by ambulance with major injuries. Guelph Avenue was closed for approximately 2 hours while police investigated. Speed was was not to be a factor and no charges will be laid in this incident. Police remind all road users to follow traffic safety rules and maintain a high level of awareness of other vehicles and pedestrians at all times.
