On July 3, 2014, a post mortem examination was conducted by the Regional Coroners office. No underlying medical issues were discovered. It is believed that the driver may have fallen asleep prior to crossing the centre line and colliding with the other vehicle.

On July 2, 2014 at approximately 2:00pm, a motor vehicle collison occurred in the area of 3744 Old Beverly Road in North Dumfries Township. A gray Mazda 3 was travelling west on Old Beverly Road towards Cambridge when it crossed the centre line and collided with an eastbound tractor trailer. As a result of the collision, the driver of the Mazda, an 81 year old Cambridge male suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 44 year old male Cambridge resident, was transported to Cambridge Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries. This collision investigation is ongoing.
