Multi Vehicle Collisions Send 5 To Hospital

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On February 19, 2011 at 10:43 am, the South Bruce OPP received a call to a single vehicle crash on County Road 4, between Walkerton and Hanover, in Brant Township. Officers arrived to find a vehicle had struck a guard rail on a section of County Road 4 where the high winds and blowing snow were creating very poor visibility. An ambulance attended to assess the driver who was injured in the crash.

More vehicles arrived at the scene in very poor visibility and became involved in separate collisions, near the scene of the first crash. A total of 9 vehicles were involved, including a South Bruce OPP cruiser and a Bruce County Ambulance, in 3 separate crashes. 5 people were taken to the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit was called to assist with the investigation. County Road 4 between County Road 19 and County Road 22 has been closed to protect the emergency workers at the scene.

The South Bruce OPP are looking to speak with the driver of a black pick up truck that passed by the crash site on Bruce County Road 4, wound up in the South ditch, then continued along eastbound on Bruce County Road 4.
