As a community the best way to deal with crime and victimization is to stop crime before it occurs. All communities are safer when citizens work together to build safe and healthy neighbourhoods. Public safety and crime prevention is a shared responsibility, in which both citizens and the police have important roles. Collectively, if we all take pro-active steps we can reduce crime and increase the overall safety of our communities in Perth County.
One of the most useful and obvious tools for crime prevention is to call police if you see suspicious activity. You are not bothering police with your call, conversely, officers highly recommend and encourage you to make the call if you hear or see suspicious activity. When in doubt, please call police. For suspicious activity and crimes in progress, call 9-1-1 immediately and continually update police with a description of the events that are unfolding.
