Motorists Charged At Pedestrian Cross-Walk

(ST.MARYS, ON) On Thursday October 20, 2011 a Perth County OPP officer in St.Marys patrolled the area of Queen St. East and John St. where concerns were raised about motorists not stopping for pedestrians at the cross walk.

While observing pedestrians and vehicular traffic in the area of the crosswalk, two motorists were seen failing to stop for the activated cross-walk light while pedestrians waited to cross. The drivers were charged with failing to yield to pedestrians. The Perth County OPP will actively continue their enforcement effort at pedestrian crossings and in school zones. Motorists are reminded to slow down and take extra care while driving in these locations.
