(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 48-year-old from London is facing charges of Impaired Driving & Over 80 following a motorcycle crash that took place in late May.
On May 28th, 2017 around 6:30 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Bayfield Fire Department and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to the single motor vehicle crash scene located on Pavillion Road near Bronson Line. A passer-by had located a motorcycle and the injured driver laying in the south ditch.
The male was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
While speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and his ability to drive was impaired. Due to the driver’s injuries the male was deemed to be unable to provide a breath sample, therefore, a judicial warrant was sought to determine the concentration of alcohol in the driver’s blood.
The results of the Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) analysis have since returned from the Centre of Forensic Sciences and the analysis shows the driver’s BAC was above 80 milligrams.
As a result, 48-year-old Peter KARWACKI, from London has been charged with Impaired Care & Control and Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams. He has a court date scheduled for September 18, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
