Motorcyclist Faces Careless Driving and Racing Charges

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Sunday July 29, 2012, around 2:30 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer on patrol on Hwy 23 observed an extremely fast moving north bound motorcycle pass other motorists in an unsafe manner. The officer attempted to pull over the motorcyclist who failed to stop. The officer radioed the description of the motorcyclist and the motorcycle to an OPP officer in Palmerston who was able to stop the machine.

The 25 year old motorcyclist, a Municipality of North Perth resident is now facing charges for “careless driving”, “failing to stop for police”, and “racing a motor vehicle”. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on September 11, 2012 to answer these charges. His driver’s licence was seized and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation as it is suspended for 7 days. His Harley Davidson was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 7 days.
