Motorcyclist Cut Off And Assaulted In Road Rage Incident In Mitchell – Jeffrey LAMONT Arrested

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Friday June 24, 2016, shortly before 1:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to an assault in progress near the intersection of Ontario Road and St.David Street in Mitchell.

Upon police arrival at the scene, it was determined that a motorcycle with a male rider and a female passenger had been travelling westbound on Hwy 8 East of Mitchell. A Dodge SUV pulled out from a lumberyard driveway directly in front of the motorcycle, forcing the motorcyclist to brake hard and pass the SUV to avoid a collision. The driver of the SUV followed the motorcycle very closely and made numerous attempts to pass it. The motorcyclist pulled over near the intersection of Ontario Rd. and St.David St. to allow the SUV to pass. The SUV driver also pulled over and engaged in a verbal altercation with the motorcyclist which resulted in the SUV driver assaulting the motorcyclist.

52-year-old Jeffrey LAMONT of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with the Criminal Code of Canada offence of “assault” and “dangerous operation of a motor vehicle”.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend at the Stratford Court of Justice on Monday August 08, 2016, to answer to these charges.
