(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday August 11, 2010 shortly before 8 a.m. Perth County Ambulance, the Township of Perth East Fire Dept. and Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Line 39 and Road 130.
OPP investigation revealed that an east bound garbage truck on Line 39 was turning north on Road 130 when an east bound motorcycle rider on Line 39 was unable to slow down his machine and slid into the side of the truck and became stuck underneath. The fire department utilized airbags to lift the truck and thereby free the motorcyclist.
The male motorcycle rider was transported by air ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in London with undetermined injuries. The Perth County OPP with the assistance of the OPP Western Region Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the collision.
It is anticipated that the intersection Line 39 and Road 130 will be closed until well after the noon hour to allow for a safe and proper investigation.
