On October 16, 2013 at approximately 11:10pm the Owen Sound Police Service received several calls relating to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 10th Street West and 4th Avenue West. Police, Fire and ambulance attended and found two heavily damaged vehicles.
The investigation revealed that a 26 year old male driving a black Honda facing southbound on 4th Ave W pulled onto 10th Street West into the path of a grey Toyota driven by a 45 year old female. The force of the collision caused the Toyota to spin 180 degrees and the Honda to be shot across the road onto a private residence and smash into a shed before coming to a stop. The road was closed to traffic in both directions for approximately 1 hour while police completed their investigation.
The female driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries and released. The male who was not injured was charged with; fail to yield to traffic on through highway, G1 licence holder unaccompanied by licence driver and novice driver having blood alcohol concentration above zero. The male was also in breach of a probation order because of the consumption of alcohol and subsequently arrested. He was later released on a promise to appear and officer in charge undertaking.
