Motor Vehicle Collides with Convenience Store

On August 10, 2013 at 5:40 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a single motor vehicle collision in which a Ford Escape struck the Mac’s Milk Store on Gordon Street. Investigation alleges that a 74-year-old Guelph woman was operating her vehicle in the parking lot of 987 Gordon Street South. While attempting to park her vehicle it suddenly accelerated and drove into the Mac’s Store. Nobody inside the store was injured and the driver was taken to Guelph General Hospital for observation and released.
Both the store and the Ford Escape sustained major damage which is estimated to be approximately $20,000.
At this time, investigators believe the mishap may have been accidental however a mechanical exam will be conducted on the Escape.
