On February 25, 2017, at 7 p.m., a mother and her 3-year-old child were walking on the crosswalk at Commonwealth Street and Max Becker Drive in Kitchener when they were hit by a motor vehicle. Investigation revealed that a grey Dodge SUV was turning left onto Commonwealth Street from Max Becker Drive when it struck the mother and child. They were taken to hospital with minor injuries. A 43-year-old Kitchener woman has been charged with careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian. Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact police at 519-653-7700.
