(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is warning motorists to stay off roadways and avoid unnecessary travel throughout most areas of Perth County. Numerous roadways are currently impassable due to heaving drifting and nil visibility.

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has closed the following roadways:

All County roadways maintained by the County of Perth.

All of Highway 23 in Perth County

Huron Road (Highway 8) from Dublin to Stratford

Highway 7/8 from Stratford to Kitchener-Waterloo

Motorists should also be aware that other roadways such as local municipal roadways may not be suitable for travel and motorists should exercise good judgement and avoid all unnecessary travel until the conditions improve and the roads are safe to travel on.

Attempting to drive on these roadways is currently hazardous and should not be attempted. Do not jeopardize your safety by driving on these roadways.

Driving on a closed roadway may result in a $110 fine and 3 demerit points if convicted.

All motorists are encouraged to check weather and road travel conditions by calling 5-1-1 or checking online at www.Ontario.ca/trip for up- to-date road conditions for provincially maintained highways. This bilingual service is available 24 hours a day and provides updates on highway closures and road conditions.

Do Not call the OPP Provincial Communications Centre (PCC) for road and weather conditions. Police will not provide this information. By calling the PCC it ties up phone lines and personnel used for emergency calls.
