More Thefts From Vehicles

(WALKERTON, ON) – On November 23, 2012 at 3:05 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence in the 100 block of Amelia Street in Walkerton. The owner arrived home and found the vehicle door open. A quantity of Canadian Tire money and a Silver Sony Cyber shot camera were taken.

The value of the stolen property is estimated to be $300.

As officers were patrolling the area, a vehicle door was found open in the 700 block of Mary Street in Walkerton. The owner confirmed the vehicle had been entered and a Black Tom Tom GPS unit had been taken. The value of the stolen item is estimated to be more than $100.

In order to help area residents protect their property, the South Bruce OPP is offering the following tips from the Lock it or Lose it initiative:

Always roll up your vehicle’s windows, lock the doors and pocket the key
Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area
If you have a garage, use it. Lock the door as well as the vehicle
Never leave valuable objects or packages in plain view
