(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) patrols the roadways of the Bruce Peninsula observing for infractions of the Highway Traffic Act. These include impaired driving, seat belt non-use, speeding, aggressive driving and distracted driving. The listed infractions have been found to be the leading causes of motor vehicle collisions, injuries, and death on Ontario highways. Members from the Bruce Peninsula OPP will, as always, be on alert for those whose actions could ruin the vacation and travel plans of others.
The OPP has worked with Bruce County and local Municipal groups, as well as Bruce Peninsula businesses, to provide mobile speed signs in an effort to deter those with a habit of driving at excessive speed. The signs will be seen throughout the summer months on a variety of roadways on the Bruce Peninsula. Community members have the signs for a minimum of one week, as a reminder to motorists and citizens of the various speed zones they travel through, with the goal of voluntary compliance to the posted speed limit.
The OPP encourage everyone to use common sense and drive responsibly this summer for everyone’s sake.
The Bruce Peninsula OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
