Missing Swimmer Identified

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to search for a 53 year old swimmer that went missing in Lake Huron on September 2, 2012. The search resumed at pre-dawn under favourable conditions.

Huron OPP officers and members from the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (U.S.R.U) are utilizing two OPP vessels equipped with Side Scan Sonar in the search. Officers also continue to search the Lake Huron shoreline utilizing OPP All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).

The missing male has been identified as Gordon VAN DYKE, 53, from Elma Township (Atwood). He is Caucasian, 6’ tall, 200 lbs, with short blonde hair. He was wearing a green swim suit.
