Milton Fire Leaves Several Families Homeless

At 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning Police responded to a large residential fire near the 120 block of Swindale Drive in Milton.

Upon arrival, flames were visible from the roof of one residence; one of about five joined tract style homes. The row of houses as well as neighbouring homes were evacuated. Milton Fire immediately upgraded the alarm and had Halton EMS, Milton Hydro and Union Gas to also attend.

All residents were accounted for and there appear to be no injuries at this time.

At least three homes have sustained major damage, displacing approximately twelve people. The Canadian Red Cross has been called and a crisis team is responding to those residents’ immediate needs.

The Milton Fire Department has the mandate over the investigation into the cause of this fire. If deemed suspicious, Halton Regional Police will be notified.
