Update regarding Mildmay area closure
South Bruce OPP has re-opened the area around the Mildmay Carrick Arena as of 10:30 am on the 16 June 2009.
The incident began on the 15 June 2009 at approximately 9:30 pm. Officers from South Bruce OPP Detachment attended the Mildmay Pool for a report of a disturbance.
When Officers arrived with the Mildmay Carrick Fire Department and Bruce County Ambulance they located a man with what appeared to be chemical burns. Several pool employees, a firefighter and an ambulance attendant were showing signs of a reaction to something that was connected with the man
South Bruce OPP officers located a vehicle parked at the Mildmay Carrick Arena as a result of the investigation. When the officers approached the vehicle they started to show symptoms like that of the others involved.
The area was secured and the OPP Drug Enforcement Unit as well as The OPP Clandestine Lab Response Team were activated as a precaution. As a result, the area was cleared of any hazardous conditions and is once again safe for the publics use. The cause of the suspected chemical is currently under investigation.
Jeremy Halk 23 years old of Brockton, Ontario has been charged with Break and Enter under the Criminal Code and appears in Walkerton Court on the 16 June 2009.
