(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Sunday March 11, 2012 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle rollover on Line 80 north of Milverton.
The green GMC Sierra pickup truck had been driving on Line 80 when it left the roadway, entered the ditch, rolled over and came to rest on its passenger side. The male driver required extrication from the vehicle by the Township of Perth East Fire Dept. (Milverton Station). The male did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash but displayed signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.
While police were investigating the crash, a call was received from a resident of Line 73 near Millbank reporting the theft of a green GMC Sierra pickup truck. It was determined that the vehicle involved in the collision was one and the same.
As a result, Mike Thiessen (46) of Wallenstein has been charged with “theft of motor vehicleâ€Â, “impaired operation of a motor vehicleâ€Â, and “operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of bloodâ€Â. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on April 16, 2012 to answer to these charges. He was also issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
