(GODERICH, ON) – A 25 year old driver from Huron-Kinloss is facing three charges after he was stopped at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint this past weekend. Just before 4:30 p.m. on December 5, 2014 a red Chevrolet Impala entered a R.I.D.E checkpoint located at the intersection of Maitland Road South and Walnut Street.
Upon speaking with the male driver the officer detected the odour of marihuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was questioned about the odour and he admitted to having some marihuana inside the vehicle. A subsequent check also revealed the driver held a suspended driver’s licence.
As a result, the driver was placed under arrest and charged.
25 year old Michael MCPHERSON from Huron-Kinloss has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance – Marihuana, Drive While Under Suspension and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card. He was released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 19, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
