(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On Tuesday September 18, 2012 at approximately 11:58pm County of Wellington OPP officers observed a 2010 Toyota that was being driven erratically on County Road 125 just south of County Road 124 in the Town of Erin. At this time and location officers stopped the motor vehicle and spoke to the male driver. While speaking with the driver, police observed a large vacuum sealed package of suspected marihuana in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed several more vacuum sealed packages of suspected marihuana and a large quantity of Canadian currency. Approximately 16 lbs of suspected marihuana and an undisclosed quantity of cash were seized by police.
Maxim Popovitch aged 29 of Orangeville has been charged with Possession of Marihuana – Over 3 Kgs For the Purpose of Tracking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Bail Court on September 19, 2012 to answer to the charges.
