Matthew Lichty – Flight From Police

(TOWSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Tuesday September 25, 2012 shortly after 10 a.m. two Perth County OPP officers were observing traffic at Hwy. 7 near the Wildwood Conservation Area entrance. A black 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was stopped by the officers who detected the odour of freshly burnt marihuana coming from inside the vehicle.

When the officers directed the driver to pull his vehicle to the side of the road, the driver sped off in a westerly direction on Perth Line 9. The officers followed in a marked cruiser and the Cobalt driver pulled over less than 200 meters down the road. The male was arrested and a small amount of marihuana was located inside his vehicle.

Matthew LICHTY (30) of Kitchener was charged with “flight from police” and “marihuana possession under 30 grams”. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on Wednesday September 26th where he was released on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on October 15, 2012 to answer to the charges.
