(ARRAN ELDERSLIE TWP, ON) – On April 1st, 2012 at 1:49 am, the South Bruce OPP received a report of a van striking a tree before being returned to the owner’s residence along Union Street in Tara. Officers arrived and noted considerable damage to the driver’s side of the Blue Dodge Caravan. Police were further advised that the vehicle owner had been assaulted. 21 year old Matthew COUPE of Arran Elderslie Township was charged with 3 counts of Fail to comply with recognizance, Drive disqualified, Fail to remain at accident, Theft over $5,000 and Assault. He was held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing scheduled for April 2nd, 2012.
