(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On July 7th, 2016 at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a male riding what appeared to be a motorized small mini bike style motor vehicle on Mosley Street between 2nd and 3rd Street without front or rear lights or an Ontario licence plate. This motor vehicle was stopped and it was confirmed not to have proper headlights or a licence plate. A further Police check of the operator of this motor vehicle revealed that he did not have a valid Ontario Drivers’ Licence and that he was in possession of a quantity of Cannabis Marihuana. A further Police check of this motor vehicle revealed that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on it had been tampered with.
Charged with “Possession Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Resin – under 1g” is Austin BARYSAS 22 years old from Wasaga Beach. Police have further charged this accused with “Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance” under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and “Drive without proper headlights – motor vehicle”, “Drive motor vehicle – no Licence” and “Deface vehicle identification number” under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. First appearance is September 13th, 2016 in Collingwood court.
