Man Tries Shoplifting 46 Inch TV

Occurrence #: BA14-059570

Date: Wednesday, December 10, 2014 – 9:00pm

On the 10th of December 2014 at approximately 8:30pm, a 36 year old Barrie man was in a north end department store doing some Christmas shopping. The male was
observed selecting a 46 inch television and Blu-ray player and placing the items in his cart. The male continued to look around and then decided he had found everything he was looking for.

The male was observed by-passing the tills and headed straight to the exit making no attempt to pay for the items. As he entered the parking lot and thinking he had just scored a free television and Blu-ray player, the male was approached by store security and apprehended for the theft.

Police were contacted and continued the arrest only to determine the male was currently on release for other charges and was violating a curfew condition on his recognizance.

The male was subsequently held pending a bail hearing. He now faces the charges of theft, possession and failing to comply with his recognizance.
