In the overnight hours the Barrie Police Service attended a Mary Street address in relation to a domestic incident involving a 54 year old couple.
Once on scene officers learned that the male had received a stab wound to the back with a steak knife.
The male was transported to RVH and then transferred to Sunnybrook hospital with life threatening injuries. He has since been stabilized and expected to recover.
The female was arrested and is being held in custody for a bail hearing on a charge of aggravated assault.
