(MINTO TWP, ON) – On Friday November 9, 2012 at approximately 6:00pm County of Wellington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers attended a farm property located on Ayton Road in Minto Twp in regards to a male that had severely injured his hand in a farming accident.
Firefighters from the Town of Minto Fire Department and Paramedics from the Guelph/Wellington EMS also responded to the scene.
Investigation revealed that the victim, a 44 year-old male was harvesting beans while operating his combine. The beans started to lodge in the engine under the combine. The victim attempted to clear the engine while it was still running and his hand was sucked in.
The male was transported to Palmerston Hospital and later transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital in London with serious injuries to his hand.
The Farm Equipment Safety Agency was notified on the incident.
