(WEST PERTH, ON)- On Sunday April 2, 2017, at around 3:40 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program at the intersection of Blanchard Street and Huron Road in the Municipality of West Perth (Mitchell).
A grey Chevrolet car entered the RIDE program and was checked. An officer spoke to the driver and detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilyzer and registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 37-year-old Cory THOMAS from Owen Sound has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on April 24, 2017. He also received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the car was seized for 7 days.
