Man Fails to Comply on Same Day he’s Released

As previously reported yesterday, on Sunday, August 11, 2013 around 6:00 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

At this time, a 45-year-old man reported that he had been physically assaulted by his common-law partner throughout the day as they argued. The man did not require medical attention.

A 42-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault x3 and assault with a weapon. Yesterday, the man was taken before a justice and released from custody around 12:30 p.m. with several conditions. Two of the conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Chatham man or attend his residence.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. the man attended that residence and began acting in an intimating manner. He asked the 45-year-old man for a ride to an appointment and when denied he left the residence.

Officers attended the area and located the 42-year-old man. He was arrested around 2:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon and has been charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
