Man Escapes Kidnappers After Several Days Of Beatings Over Debt – Three Arrested

Three Brantford men and a Brantford woman are charged after a 26 year old male was kidnapped and assaulted. On Wednesday January 18, 2017 at approximately 2:30pm, a male attended a residence located on Dalhousie St, Brantford. While at this location, the male was confronted by two males over a debt.

The victim was punched and intimidated by both parties who threatened him, should he not pay the debt. The victim was then taken to a Peel St residence. A third male and a female were at the second residence.

The victim was told he needed to find a way of repaying the debt or he would be harmed. He was to remain within this address until he could acquire this money. The group took turns watching the victim to ensure he could not leave.

Between January 18, 2017 and shortly before midnight on the January 21, 2017, the victim was confined to the residence at Peel St where he was assaulted and threatened. The victim sustained injuries to his head and face, but did not require medical attention.

When the victim had opportunity to leave while not being watched by his captors, he fled the residence. Police were contacted.

On Sunday January 22, 2017 at 9:14pm, members of the Brantford Police Service executed a warrant at the Peel St. residence. A male and female were taken into custody. The two other males were arrested away from the residence. All were held for bail hearings. As a result of this incident and police investigation, the following persons have been charged:

Section 88 of the Criminal Code – Possession of dangerous weapon

Chad Joseph Lyle DOB: 1987-11-04 of Peel St., Brantford

Section 423(1) of the Criminal Code – Intimidation

Section 346(1) of the Criminal Code – Extortion

Section 279(1) of the Criminal Code – Kidnapping

Section 267(1) (a) of the Criminal – Assault with a weapon

Section 266 of the Criminal Code – Assault

Section 264.1(2) of the Criminal Code – Uttering Threats

Section 88 of the Criminal Code – Possession of dangerous weapon

Zackery William Stacey DOB: 1993-11-13 of Peel St., Brantford
