Man Charged with Robbery

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Chatham last weekend.

As previously reported, on Saturday, February 8, 2014 around 9:30 p.m. a lone male attended the Subway restaurant at 380 Queen Street. As the customer ahead of him paid for her items, the man reached over the counter and grabbed over $400 in cash as the employee opened the cash register to complete the transaction. The employee attempted to stop the man however he pushed her away. The employee was not injured.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible. Last night around 8:30 p.m. police located the man on Pine Street in Chatham and he was arrested. The 47-year-old Chatham man has been charged with robbery. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
