Around 2:00 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling westbound on Richmond Street in Chatham at a low rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation suspected that the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol. The man was read the roadside breath demand to which he used profanities towards the officer and refused. The man was given several opportunities to comply before being arrested. The officer also found the man to be in possession of three baggies of marijuana, with an approximate street value of $160.
Brandon Joyce, 27 years, of Viscount Road in Chatham has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and drug possession. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
