Man Charged with Multiple Driving Offences

Yesterday afternoon around 2:25 p.m. an officer on general patrol was travelling southbound on Lacroix Street in Chatham when he observed a gray Hyundai travelling in front of him. The officer queried the licence plates and received information that the validation expired in June of 2011. The officer initiated a traffic stop to further investigate and learned that the man did not have a valid driver’s licence or insurance. Upon closer inspection of the rear licence plate, the officer observed that the validation sticker had been defaced using a black marker. The number ‘14’ had been written overtop of the original validation sticker.

An 18-year-old Chatham man has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with no licence, using plates not authorized, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and defacing a plate.
