The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance in Chatham early this morning.
Around 1:30 a.m. a man and woman became involved in a verbal argument. The incident escalated when the man assaulted the woman and demanded that she stay in a specific room of the residence. When the woman tried to leave, the man assaulted her again. The woman did not seek medical attention.
The 54-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
