Man Charged with Break and Enter

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with an incident in Chatham earlier this month.

On August 5, 2014 police responded to a break and enter complaint at Perry Refrigeration on Park Avenue West. The owner reported that sometime over the long holiday weekend unknown suspect(s) had entered the fenced compound and moved several pieces of scrap metal and copper. Small piles of scrap metal were found lying along the rear fence, placed so that someone could potentially grab them from outside the fence.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible for entering the fence compound and moving the scrap metal. Yesterday afternoon, police located the man on Tweedsmuir Avenue East and he was arrested.

The 30-year-old Chatham man has been charged with break and enter. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
