Man Charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with an assault investigation.

On July 28, 2013 around 7:00 p.m. police responded to a residence on Raleigh Street in Chatham in regards to an assault complaint. At this time, a 30-year-old Chatham man reported that he had been assaulted by a 23-year-old Chatham man with a golf club.

The 30-year-old Chatham man sustained a serious lower body injury and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical treatment.

Officers attempted to locate the man responsible for the assault however he fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Yesterday morning, the 23-year-old Chatham man turned himself in to police headquarters. Through investigation, officers learned that the man was also bound by a Probation Order with several conditions. He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of failing to comply. He was transported to court pending a bail hearing.
