Man Charged with Assault

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

In August 2013, the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to abstain from communicating or associating with a specific Ridgetown woman. Another condition stated that he was to reside at a specific address in Chatham.

On January 15, 2014, police received information regarding a domestic dispute between the man and woman in Chatham. It is alleged that the man assaulted the woman while in a vehicle together. Officers attended the man’s address as specific on his release documents, however learned that the man no longer lived there. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

Yesterday morning just before 10:00 a.m. police located the man at a residence in Tilbury East Township. The 33-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with one count of assault and two counts of failing to comply. He was transported to court pending a bail hearing.
