(Ottawa) On January 22, 2015, the Ottawa Police Service Fraud Section charged a man in relation to fraudulent American currency transactions.
Between December 13 and 18, 2014, the man attended 5 different financial institutions in Central Ottawa and West Ottawa to exchange American currency for Canadian currency. He completed a total of 10 separate transactions at these locations. It was later determined that the currency he presented was all counterfeit.
Chika OGBUNEKE, 31 year old, from Nigeria was charged with a total of 41 charges including Fraud under, Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, Laundering proceeds of crime and Uttering/Using/Exporting counterfeit money.
