Man charged following shooting on Montreal Road

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service responded to a call for service about a shooting incident that occurred at approximately 2:00PM on Friday the 16th day of October, at the intersection of Montreal Road and Cantin Street. Multiple witnesses reported seeing a physical altercation involving several males which ended with a 30 year old male being shot in the abdomen. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, treated and released. The male suspect was arrested by two alert patrol officers while attempting to flee the area on foot. The handgun used by the suspect was also retrieved by patrol officers in the area.

The Guns and Gangs Unit investigated the shooting and subsequently charged Leroy Morriseau, 23 years old of Ottawa, with attempted murder, discharging a firearm, pointing a firearm and several other firearm related offences. He will appear in court on Saturday morning.
