Man Beaten With Beer Bottle In Owen Sound – Good Samaritans Tend To Wounds

Just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning (18 th March 2018) the Owen Sound Police responded to a licenced establishment in the cities down town core with regards to a disturbance. A physical confrontation between two males had erupted inside the bar. The altercation turned violent when the one party smashed a beer bottle over the head of the other then proceeded to strike the man about his head with the broken glass. The victim and the accused were acquaintances that both happened out for the evening celebrating their birthdays.

The victim sustained major injury to his left ear and head. Bar patrons did a great job tending to the injuries of the 29 year old victim until EMS arrived on scene. The Owen Sound man was transported to hospital, treated for his injuries and later released.

Police located and arrested the suspect at the scene without incident. The 32 year old Owen Sound man has been held in custody and will appear today (Monday) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound to answer to the charges of Assault with a Weapon and Aggravated Assault.
