Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

On July 18, 2014, the man attended Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham and concealed three X-Box video games and three DVDs from the electronic department in his pants. The man proceeded to the garden centre where he removed the items and dropped them in a shopping cart that was directly outside the gated fence. The man exited the store and proceeded towards the shopping cart where the stolen items had been placed. Police were called and the man was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date.

On August 6, 2014, the man failed to attend police headquarters as required for the purposes of being fingerprinted and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On August 8, 2014, the man failed to attend court which led to another warrant being issued for his arrest.

Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, members of the Windsor Police Service located the man in their jurisdiction and he was arrested. The man was transported to Chatham-Kent and turned over to CKPS officers for court purposes.

The 23-year-old Chatham man remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
